Ridiculous Marketing Nonsense

Ridiculous Marketing Nonsense

I was standing on a platform back in 2006 waiting for a tube train when I had an idea. Opposite me was the most ridiculous billboard advertising sausages. I wish I could remember the strapline but I’m sure you can use your imagination.

(It wasn’t the image above, which is for This Vegan Sausages.)

I was a regular user of the Flickr photo-sharing website back then and that day, thanks to the sausage ad, I started the Ridiculous Marketing Nonsense group.

The rules were simple:

This is a space for images of daft marketing words, stupid adverts and any other signs, posters or billboards that are encouraging you to buy into something.
More kudos for words spelt incorrectly or phrases that make absolutely no sense at all.
Please, NO photoshopped signs or adverts as that would just be silly and there are numerous other groups for such stuff.
Most importantly… have fun.

With the rise in the popularity of Facebook, switching platforms was an obvious move, so I created a new group there. For the past 11 years has grown into a community of over 2000 users.

I was recently interviewed by the Bored Panda website about the community as they had written an article about it.
